If you prefer to change your vehicle’s oil, however, you need to know how to reset the Honda Civic oil light manually:

  1. Turn on the ignition, but not the engine. It should be in the first position.
  2. Press the menu button that’s on the left-hand-side controls on the steering wheel. Take a look at the menu screen.
  3. Press (+) for Vehicle Information, then press the SOURCE button.
  4. Press SOURCE one more time so you end up at the Maintenance screen. That’s where you will see the engine oil life on the i-MID (intelligent Multi-Information Display).
  5. Use (-) and choose yes, then press SOURCE.
  6. Turn off the ignition, then start the engine to verify the Honda Civic oil reset worked.
